Covid-19 – response from Ryding2Health

At Ryding2Health we have always taken cleanliness very seriously. You have to when you have a team of massage therapists who deal with many people per day at close range. We are very confident that it is still perfectly safe to continue to visit Ryding2Health for fitness or massage therapy.

But what are we actually doing to keep our business clean, and hopefully virus free?

Why you shouldn’t be alarmed

This is straight from the World Health Organization website, on how the disease COVID-19 is spread. You cannot catch Covid-19 from sweat, or from simply touching someone who has it.

The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. People can also catch COVID-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with COVID-19 who coughs out or exhales droplets.

Massage therapy hygiene practices at Ryding2Health

It stands to reason: we change the linen after every client. As well as this, here is what else we do (and have always done):

  • Our therapists wipe down and disinfect all surfaces in the massage rooms in between ever client. We use all natural (non chemical) products with tea tree oil being at the centre of our sanitisation rituals.
  • Our therapists thoroughly hand wash (to the elbows) in between every client.
  • We have (and always have had) tissues available throughout our premises.

Additional hygiene methods that we have implemented include:

  • We now have hand soap wall dispensers in all bathrooms and our staff kitchen rather than pump bottles.
  • We have hand sanitiser wall dispensers on order. These will be installed in all massage rooms, plus one will be available by the front door for general use.
  • Our staff will now add the following to their regular hygiene routines: regularly wiping down all workout equipment surfaces, door handles, iPads and tables.

New client screening practices

We have now added a travel question to all our new client screening forms. This is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all our staff and clients at Ryding2Health.

We will be asking all our lapsed / returning clients if they have recently travelled outside NZ, again as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of everyone.

Why is it still safe to come to Ryding2Health for fitness?

As we no longer offer in person group fitness classes, the social risk of spreading simply isn’t there. All our fitness programs are 1:1 with our trainers. You never come into contact with anyone at any time.

In addition, we now have added additional equipment disinfectant practices to our daily routines.

Anyone using our boxing gloves / pads is asked to squirt them with tea tree oil based disinfectant after every use. We do have rubber gloves available if you prefer to wear them with our boxing gloves instead of wraps. Please note: we were already doing this as a regular practice before Covid-19.

What if you are already self isolating, or prefer to stay home?

For almost a year now, we have been offering our group fitness classes online. We live stream 4 new classes per week to members, who can do them with us live, or on watch back at a time that suits them. These members now have a library of literally 100’s of classes to choose from. This is a free of charge service for all our 1:1 personal training clients who are on payment contracts and can also be purchased on its own as ‘online group fitness’.

In addition to this we already also offer online 1:1 personal training via Skype, meaning you can still get the personalised Ryding2Health approach, without coming into the building.

Being fit and healthy is one of the top ways you personally can help yourself to combat this virus!

So you can still get your fitness fix from one of our already established online fitness platforms.
