This is a recipe I make again and again because it’s soooo simple and very tasty. You only really need 2 ingredients! I would have made a wee video like last time but by golly those onions made me cry and cry!
Ingredients
Place the finely chopped onions in a large saucepan with a splash of water and 1 tsp caster sugar. Sauté them on a low – medium heat for 15-20 minutes stirring constantly.
Add the stock (and white wine if you’re using it) and leave to simmer, partially covered, on a low heat for 20 minutes.
Note: Quite honestly, it doesn’t taste like there’s anything missing if you’re watching your calories and want to miss out the white wine. I have made it both with and without, it’s just as nice either way.
