It’s been a strange day. It was raining most of the morning, I struggled with what to do that was indoors based. Everything here is designed around the outdoors, all my pastimes are based on the outdoors. On reflection, anything computer based wasn’t even considered, the TV has been off all day, I read my book for a while already, oh how things change. I don’t remember having this ‘what to do’ issue when I lived in England.
I thought about what was going on, then realised: everything happiness based used to be about going out for dinner, beer, or maybe both. It’s only been since we lived here that that has changed, since we decided to return to healthy eating till that majorly changed and it’s only been since I made some conscious decisions to balance my life back again and not let work take over that I have been presented with this problem.
The rain abated this afternoon, so we decided to go for a mountainbike ride along the river. What a world away from what fun used to entail in England. My life was revolving around swim, bike, run, eat, sleep, work and race. There wasn’t time for anything else.
You know what I realised this morning; it’s OK to actually relax. It’s ok to sit and chill for a while, and it seems so odd and boring because I am simply not used to doing it.
