Poor hubby has had quite a job on his hands when we decided to put a door and doorframe back where the arch into our lounge was.
Little did we know till he got started (an it isn’t an easy task as it is when you’ve never done it before!) what we would encounter!
We tore out the arch and found an old doorway. So we set off to the reclamation yard to find a period door that matched our other ones. No problem. Then he went onto YouTube, and with a little help from a man at Mitre Ten, managed to make a doorframe for the door, that made the whole thing for into the gap. Nice one!
But….
The wall isn’t straight and the doorframe is bowed, meaning all sorts of other compensatory measures have had to also be employed!
Zig zag?! This is the house that Jack built, for sure!!
