NOT striking the balance: how best to use your time

It’s been a tough assed week this week, starting a brand new day job last week, then being away half the week at the masters games. I feel like I am still on a full on sprint trying to catch up. I haven’t been able to do any training at all since my regatta last Saturday.

This doesn’t sit well with me, but at the end of the day, what can I do? Work is needed in order to fuel the rest of life. However I do not live to work, I work to live. Something will have to give, eventually.

It has struck a blow for sure, but I need to think outside the box and think about how I can re-jig my schedule to fit everything in.

Today I only managed a 35 min spin on the turbo. How do you best use only 35 minutes? Well here is what I decided.

I remember not that long ago, struggling to maintain 100rpm at all. I can now do it relatively easily so I have pushed the ‘norm’ to 110rpm. This does at times mean a change down in gears, but spinning is the purpose here, not speed…. Yet.

Today I managed 5 minute periods at 110rpm, which is pretty good all things considered.

What do you do with only 35 minutes? Work on the weakness area, which is for me, leg speed.

Every minute is a valuable minute, use them wisely.
