Rowing ramps up

Two weeks till the masters games and things are ramping up.

Tonight we were sent out in a double – I feel like I have graduated because it’s my first training session out in a boat without a coach! I have a new pairing for the double sculls, it’s all to do with combines calculated age for racing – we need to avoid the D category – whatever that means! I think I need to go read all the rules!

So Me and my new buddy set off up river, I have to say I was rather nervous because I was placed in the stroke seat, no one to line my stroke up on and when you lean forward to stroke it feels like you may just lean far enough to fall out, which is ridiculous when you think about how long the boat actually is!

We got a fairly good rhythm going, didn’t fall out and even managed a few practice starts, some ok some rather more rubbish! Thankfully the river was deserted! We need to work on navigation though, we did make a meal of that!

It’s all good practice though 🙂
