Tributes for cyclist killed in freak crash

Another sad sad story of a cyclist killed. This time, a freak accident that reminds us all too precious life is. Don’t waste a single second.

Les Karayan, much loved father-of-two, loving husband, keen triathlete and successful businessman, was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time on Saturday morning.

In a freak twist of timing, when a truck clipped a Dutton Park overpass at 7.30am, by pure, tragic coincidence, Mr Karayan was cycling alongside.
The truck toppled on to its side, crushing the 40-year-old.

Here is the rest of the story.

May he rest in peace, and sincerest condolences to his family.

  1. We really need mandatory bike lanes. I’ve been driving on roads where a cyclist is up on the pavement and another vehicle is coming in the opposite direction, causing me to think that if it is a choice for me to hit that vehicle head on because there is no room for all three of us abreast, or hitting the cyclist, I’m going to hit the cyclist because it would give me a better chance of survival.
