Time with Nature: the bluebell wood

Daily post: Describe your first memorable experience exploring and spending time in nature. Were you in awe? Or were you not impressed? Would you rather spend time in the forest or the city?

As a child I lived in a new build house in the outskirts of a town in Lancashire, England. It had a long back garden that backed into a bluebell wood.

An easy short step over the back fence and I was in the wood, a small strip I land that skirted the edge of the estate, and had a river running through it.

I have fond memories of being able to literally step over the fence and into a completely new world. We used to pick the bluebells when they were in bloom, and fill the house with them.

Finding toadstools, plants birds, and watching the river flow past under the tiny bridge a little further along the bank made for the perfect summers afternoon as a child.

It was perfectly safe, as our little strip of woods was never far from the road, making the mini transformation all the more special.
