Banning the word ‘try’

tryingDaily post:  If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why

The word ‘try’. In the words of Yoda, ‘Do, or do not, there is no trying’. I agree completely. Think about this phrase: can you ‘try and pick up that pen’? No, you can’t. Either you lift it or you don’t. Trying suggests a lot of effort and ultimate failure. Trying is a get out clause for someone who doesn’t want to commit fully to what they are saying.

Trying, usually means failing. I don’t do failing.
